Edamame: the little bean behind our name

Our kanji logo reads ζžθ±† β€” edamame, young soybeans still in their pods. In Japan they are one of the most loved starters: simply boiled or steamed and finished with salt.

How to eat edamame

Hold the pod by the stem, bring it to your lips and gently squeeze the beans into your mouth. The pod itself is not eaten β€” leave it in the empty bowl on the table.

Why it starts a great meal

Edamame is light, naturally rich in plant protein and fibre, and the salt wakes up your palate for sushi, sashimi and everything that follows. That simple, honest start is exactly what we wanted Soya to stand for.
